I've harvested enough deer to know that a shot to the neck is a lethal shot. Now I would be fine with this, if not for the fact my own personal experience of hunting contradicts this mechanic of the game. You only receive points for 'vital' hits. The one real criticism I have however is how the game awards points. The game does have an achievement system of it's own which is a nice addition. The one problem I ran into is if you shoot an animal and it happens to be outside of the 'hunting area' you will be relocated elsewhere making recovery of that animal impossible which is a bit of a disappointment, especially if you have just made a long shot. When you have spotted an animal a triangle will appear indicating whether the animal sees, hears or smells you.

An animal's awareness of you is generally indicated by a white highlight on the screen indicating direction. There are often bonus objectives as well. The game typically revolves around spotting a track and then trying to track down a particular animal. I don't think this has an appreciable impact on the game but may be wrong. You start the game by selecting a character. The sound of the guns is a bit disappointing though as they lack rapport. Trees feel incredibly scattered which kind of detracts from the feeling of an area being a forested habitat for wildlife. The other quibble I would have is that the world density feels a bit sparse.
