He has zoning, good damage, waveclear, and excellent teamfighting. The machinist is one of the most consistent residents of the midlane. Just make sure to dodge away from crowd control. This, along with her mobility, makes her durable enough to last through a big clash. But once she slips through and finds a good roam, she can double kill your bot lane without breaking a sweat.Įven though her abilities need her to be in the middle of a fight, her items usually give her survivability (Rift Maker’s omnivamp, anyone?). She lacks wave clear and safe poke, making her easy pickings for mages or even other assassins with easier to hit basic abilities. While incredibly powerful in teamfights and skirmishes, Katarina falters in the laning phase. This red-haired Noxian assassin needs to be focused and shut down, or else she’ll wipe your entire team with an easy pentakill. She darts all around the map on low cooldowns, dealing high damage consistently. Katarina, both pre and post rework, lives in infamy. She might be sworn to death, but she's not going to be the one dying. The emperor is going to push your micro and positioning to their absolute limits. Azir is one of the most difficult champions to pick up, and playing him feels incredibly different from other mages. With great power comes great responsibility, though. His ultimate, when used right, can wipe entire teams and change a game. His sand soldiers give him incredible lane priority, while later on in the game his passive allows his team to make unique macro plays. While Azir takes a while to get going, he is a pain to lane against. They attack and shield for Azir, created only to serve him. Instead, he leaves it to his sand soldiers, who are summoned by his will. The resurrected emperor of Shurima doesn’t do his dirty work. The mid lane is just one part of his vast domain. Ranking them is hard, but there’s an S tier that will always stand out above the rest. Aside from being the centerpiece of most compositions, the mid laners at your disposal are incredibly diverse and fun to play. Lots of people love playing mid, and that’s because it’s one of the most impactful roles in the game. There’s a reason that queueing up as a mid laner takes longer than, say, support.
